Rod of Inanna Cufflink Ankers
Lapis lazuli is a deep blue metamorphic rock and semi-precious stone. It's highly valued for its intense colour having first being mined as early as 3000BCE by the Indus Valley Civilisation.
By the end of the Middle Ages, Lapis started to make its way in to Europe. Painters discovered another artictis value by grounding into powder and made into ultramarine, the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments. Today, mines in Afghanistan and Pakistan are still the major source of Lapis Lazuli. It can also be found in the Andes mountains in Chile, Italy, Mongolia, the United States, and Canada.
With flecks of gold and intense blue colour you can see why people like this stone. A literal classic combination of colours. Enjoy your ankers.
Don't forget to add in cufflink shanks if you don't already own a set. If you're interested in learning more about the environmental aspects of our ankers, read on.
