The three pairs of ankers in this collection are real banknotes.  The five dollar bill is from the “Canadian Journey” series first introduced in 2001 featuring children engaged in winter sports, including sledding, ice skating, and hockey.

The two dollar bill was issued in 1975 and features an Inuit hunting scene based on a photo taken by Doug Wilkinson at Pond Inlet on North Baffin Island.

Issued in 1974, the one dollar bill became the first modern day Canadian banknote to be replaced by a coin in 1987.  The back features a tugboat in the middle of a broken log boom on the Ottawa River below Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario.

The obverse and reverse of each banknote are cut to contain interesting aspects of the banknote with some showing watermarks visible when held up to a light.

Many of the banknotes used in the Numis series have been demonetized and have only intrinsic collection value. According to the Canadian Currency Act (R.S.C., 985, c. C-52) what we are doing is legal. Similarly, there are no Canadian laws that prevent us from making these unique products using banknotes from around the world.
