The ankers in this collection are real banknotes. Don't go throwing away your shot at this collection of cufflinks inspired by three prominent figures from the hit musical Hamilton, with George, Thomas and of course Alexander.
In the musical, Hamilton is introduced to George Washington and accepts the position of aide-de-camp, "right hand man" instead of field command. Alexander expresses to Aaron Burr that we would have preferred Burr's position on the battlefield.
Washington is found on the US $1 bill and is the oldest overall design of all U.S. currency remaining largely unchanged since 1963. The reverse side designed in 1935 features a 13 step pyramid symbolizing the 13 original colonies.
Jefferson and Hamilton debate in the musical about the latter's financial proposals at a Cabinet meeting. Hamilton's desire to create new financial system is drives him to the "Compromise of 1790" over a private dinner with Jefferson, and James Madison. In exchange, Hamilton supports the plan for placing the country's permanent capital on the Potomac River (better know as Washington DC today). This is summerized in the song, "The Room Where It Happens."
Designed in 1976 the current $2 bill features Thomas Jefferson and the reverse, an engraving of the painting "Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull. In the middle of the 20th century, $2 bills were often used for horse race betting, tips at strip clubs and bribery when politicians wanted votes and so acquired a negative reputation.
Finally we have our main character, Alexander Hamilton, an inspirational figure with flaws who was an entrepreneur is his own right. Aside from founding American's financial system, he was a strong supporter of the U.S. Constitution, established the United States Coast Guard, and the New York Post newspaper.
Hamilton is one of a few people who was not born in the United States (or British America) to be featured on US currency. His portrait on the $10 is the only US banknote in circulation where they are looking to the left. The reverse of the bill shows the US Treasury Building.
The obverse and reverse of each banknote are cut to contain interesting aspects of the banknote with some showing watermarks visible when held up to a light. Your set also includes on pair of rose gold coloured cufflink shanks for your ankers.

Many (not all) of the banknotes used in the Numis series have been demonetized and have only intrinsic collection value. According to the Canadian Currency Act (R.S.C., 985, c. C-52) what we are doing is legal. Similarly, there are no Canadian laws that prevent us from making these unique products using banknotes from around the world.
